February 3-7, 2020 is designated “Pride in Foodservice Week” by the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP). This recognition week celebrates food and nutrition professionals and other members of the nutrition services team for their hard work and dedication on the job.
Nutrition and foodservice professionals are trained in understanding the basic nutritional needs of their clientele, and are responsible for purchasing, storing, preparing and delivering balanced meals, three times a day, 365 days a year. Many work long hours in sometimes difficult conditions to help keep residents and staff fed and often go unrecognized for their efforts in contributing to the overall healthcare experience. Pride in Foodservice Workers Week proves that their dedication does not go unnoticed and is appreciated by those they serve.
Pride in Foodservice Week is celebrated in facilities across the country in a variety of innovative ways, such as developing special menus, spotlighting foodservice employees on bulletin boards, treating foodservice staff to dinner or collecting food for those in need. This week proudly salutes foodservice departments for their professional efforts and vital services given throughout the years. A little appreciation goes a long way, so make sure to thank and honor all foodservice workers you know and work with all week long.
